Hey hey movers!
Guess who is back from falling face first on mountains???? For real, probably the hardest 4 days I have been through … but I guess this is what taking up new hobbies in your mid 20s look like. Snowboarding actually taught me A LOT (and it wasn’t really much about how to snowboard) lol
What I learned:
-you need to be POSITIVE even when you feel like nothing is going your way; as soon as I started falling multiple times, my mood went so LOW, I wanted to leave immediately and that’s when everything really went downhill. I noticed when I was positive was when I had smoother runs
-you need to be PATIENT; you won’t be good at a hobby that you JUST picked up. What’s even worse is seeing the 4 year olds zooming by you with talent you will probably never have…but why would you have that talent, you have legit never done this???? Don’t let it get to you and KEEP showing up, because you will get better.
-don’t quit. I wanted to quit on my second day because I genuienly couldn’t move my body. I was like why am I willingly signing up to eat shit on this mountain. But showing up on my 3rd day was SO important. That’s when I learned how to not fall the whole time and saw the most improvement. Keep showing up.
I felt like I needed to write this for everyone who feels scared to take pilates for the first time or feels discouraged that they aren’t getting better. I have seen 100s of people who have never taken pilates turn into my regular clients who I point at as my “model”. These people didn’t let their first negative experience of pilates or embarrassment stop them!!! ❤️
